Catalan Jazz On Tour | Carola Ortiz & Àlex Guitart (CAT)

Catalan clarinetist, singer, and composer Carola Ortiz moves effortlessly between traditional music, jazz, and contemporary art. She uses the expressive power of her voice and her instrumental skills to build bridges between cultures, aesthetics, and musical languages—her artistic identity is rooted in the Mediterranean, yet open to the whole world. The material from her album *Cantareras* serves as the guiding thread for her duo concerts, which she presents alongside multi-instrumentalist Àlex Guitart. Released in 2023, the album reimagines the traditional music of the Iberian Peninsula from a distinctly feminine perspective, blending Iberian and Eastern instruments with the subtle nuances of improvisational, electronic, and modal music within an intimate and minimalist soundscape.

The concert is presented with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull and JAZZ I AM, as part of the Catalan Jazz On Tour program.
