Who are these people? What is this? What does it take to turn an average person into a performer? Where is the line?
These are the questions Vanda Gróf seeks to answer, through a language that leaves it up to the viewer to interpret. With her photo series, she gives us a behind-the-scenes look at what drag culture is like in Hungary through the lens of her camera.
The inspiration for her choice of subject was the need to confront her own identity in recent years. The series was shot on film to preserve the rawness of the moment, which the documentary-style images capture almost perfectly.
The subjects are the Dragvolution troupe and their guests.
