Širom
Slovenia's Širom is lucky to be home to Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts, Dirtmusic), head of Glitterbeat, one of the most prominent global music labels today. Glitterbeat is lucky that the head of the label lives in the same country as one of its most important bands, Širom.

Schedule
The Slovenian trio starts with folk music basics and acoustic folk instruments, but they work with traditional songs, not world music, but rather imaginary folk music, exploring the possibilities of the basics and boldly building something new from them. This has a strong foundation in polyphonic sound, folk psychedelia, and improvisation alongside classical elements.
Their first album in 2016 caught Eckman's attention, and from the second they were released on Glitterbeat, and since then they have delivered their stunningly beautifully constructed free folk at a steady level, but their 2022 LP The Liquified Throne of Simplicity was much more well received than before, and was one of the hit albums of last year on the global music scene.
Unbridled musical imagination and craftsmanship. The repertoire of Iztok Koren, Samo Kutin and Ana Kravanja includes more than a dozen instruments and at least as many specific musical forms, which can be seen as the inspiration behind the group's character - resulting in an original, stylistically homogeneous expression. A down-to-earth yet mystical minimalism. Pure luck that we can catch them live in Budapest now.
