FLANDERS ON THE MOVE | SCHNTZL (BE)
What would Enya's music be like with ecstasy? The taboo-busting Belgian duo Schntzl's hyper-visual music is both provocative and endearing. It's like listening to the pop music of a parallel universe that breaks down conventional values but doesn't shy away from kitsch. Surrounded by percussion, samplers, keyboards and drums, the duo waltzes amidst slowed-down sound patterns and wild rhythms. Their music is an emotional rollercoaster ride, with the musique concrète of the 60s, the optimistic Eurodance hits of the 90s and the mournful euphoria of futuristic jazz. After three major albums, schntzl can be heard in Budapest for the first time, after having been featured at the Belgian Jazz Meeting last year and this year at Jazzahead!, the most important festival of the European jazz scene.
