On a dark, snowy winter night, K, the surveyor, arrives in the village overlooked by the castle of Count Westwest. K has been ordered there to do surveying work, but no matter how hard he tries to get up to the castle, he fails to make contact with his employers, only with the locals, who are suspicious. Maybe the castle doesn't exist, and maybe K isn't a surveyor either, although the next day two assistants report to him... Viktor Bodó stages Kafka's novel with his usual absurdist imagination and grotesque humour.
The script for the Comedy Theatre production was written with the help of the Adaptation Office staff, namely Viktor Bodó, Júlia Róbert, Anna Veress, Sibylle Meier and Krisztina Kovács.

The performance is a near-faithful replica of Viktor Bodó's 2020 staging in Hamburg.
Any resemblance to the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg production is no coincidence.
Due to the use of stroboscopes, pregnant mothers, epileptics and people with pacemakers are not recommended to attend this performance. Please note that we use strong sound effects in our performance!

Vígszínház
The Vígszínház is one of the most historic and popular theatres in Budapest. Its three venues (the Main Stage, the House Stage Studio and Chamber, the Pest Theatre) have a total of more than 1700 seats. The theatre is also known as the cradle of modern Hungarian bourgeois drama, with famous authors such as Jenő Heltai, Sándor Bródy, Dezső Szomory, Menyhért Lengyel, Ernő Szép, Sándor Hunyady, Ferenc Herczeg, and others. In the 21st century, the majority of the world's theatres with large auditoriums have lost a good part of their audience. Despite this trend, the premieres of the Vígszínház are successful, and its performances are well attended. The theatre is located on the Újlipótváros side of Szent István körút in Budapest.
