J(A)ZZ! | FLOWER+: HERBST (AT/SI)

Flower was originally a trio of keyboardist Georg Vogel, double bassist Raphael Preuschl and drummer Michael Prowaznik, but the Slovenian-Austrian group has been performing more and more often as a quartet with saxophonist Jure Pukl. The group's three albums - Flower (2011), Duft (2015) and Herbst (2022), presented at this concert - offer a wide range of approaches and moods. The four musician of equal rank present a kaleidoscope of sparkling musical associations in their repertoire, which consists of compositions written by each of the members for this formation. Vogel, Preuschl, Prowaznik and Pukl's improvisational quest is shaped by the impulses of the themes that emerge, the arc of the pieces is drawn by the dynamics of musical gestures, and the intensity of the accumulating energies is always unexpectedly raised to a level never heard before.
