SZAKCSI JR. TRIO: STOLEN TEARS - ALBUM LAUNCH CONCERT

2024-04-03T18:00:00.000Z

The trio has been performing and performing unchanged for 15 years. Szakcsi Jr. and Elemér Balázs formed the band as childhood friends, having played together since 1998. As a young talent, they invited Krisztián Pecek Lakatos, who had already burst onto the Hungarian jazz scene a few years earlier, to play bass before their first album Psalms was released in 2008.

The trio's second album, Easy To Love, released at the end of 2022, was a long time coming. In addition to performing, band leader Szakcsi Jr. has taught extensively at the Snétberger Music Talent Centre and the Egressy Béni Art School. The album contains two original songs and jazz renditions, but as Szakcsi Jr. puts it, the theme is just a pretext, the point is the musical conversation, the trio plays acoustic modern jazz in the tradition of jazz.

Earlier this year the trio released a new album, Stolen Tears, which will be performed live at this concert.

"First class Hungarian jazz. Szakcsi Trio's performance is a sophisticated and elegant stage masterpiece. Their tone is inventive. Their playing is technically flawless, confident and completely unified. On stage, they display a nuanced musical virtuosity. Their music reflects an exceptional talent for improvisation. They come up with musical ideas, make counter-proposals, follow them with elaboration, and then, at the end: peace." (Brasso Visitor, Leila Fitt)
