On the occasion of its 13th anniversary, TOBE Gallery celebrates with a special group exhibition. LOOKING GOOD! – TOBE Highlights from Budapest Contemporary offers a fresh perspective on the gallery’s artistic programme, drawing on works presented at recent art fairs and introducing pieces that have never before been shown in the gallery.
The exhibition brings together works presented at recent editions of Budapest Contemporary. Yet it is more than a summary of the highlights of the past period. The selection offers a new perspective on the artistic worlds of the artists represented by the gallery, creating opportunities for different works to be seen in new contexts and to enter into dialogue with one another.
Diverse artistic perspectives, personal narratives and visual approaches meet in this exhibition. The connections between the works reveal not only the distinctive qualities of individual artistic practices, but also the diversity of contemporary art and the potential connections between artists from different cultural backgrounds.
LOOKING GOOD! also marks an important milestone in TOBE Gallery’s thirteen-year history. Founded in Budapest in 2013, the gallery focuses on contemporary photography and photo-based art, with particular attention to Hungarian and Ibero-American artists. One of its defining aims has been to present artists from different cultural contexts within an international framework, creating meeting points that open up new possibilities for interpretation for audiences and art professionals alike.
The anniversary exhibition is therefore not simply a look back, but also a celebration of the community that has developed around the gallery over the years. Artists, collectors, professional partners and everyone interested in contemporary art are part of the story that TOBE Gallery has been shaping for thirteen years. LOOKING GOOD! brings this shared story into the present through an exhibition that invites new encounters and discoveries.

TOBE GALLERY
TOBE Gallery is the first step of a conceptual idea called, TOmas BEa project. The objective of TOBE is to be present, to be visible on the scene of contemporary photography. Their purpose with this new space in the field of contemporary photography and collage art in the city of Budapest is to seek a newer dialogue, a different point of view, with a different way of expressing and communicating photography as art.
