The Thirsty Troll

2026-10-31T09:30:00.000Z

What happens along the shores of the forbidding fjords when a troll named Kalle develops a craving for curd whey? Who are Mökki the goblin, Jukka Pekka, Gertrúd, Gréta, Freja, Frida, Jutta, and Jütte? Why is Eino, the clockwork dwarf, such a rascal—and why does the crab named Kierkegaard believe that every human being is tormented by an ailment of the soul?

In Dániel Varró’s verse tale, with its irresistible humour and language, the characteristic landscapes and figures of Scandinavian mythology come to life—fjords and glaciers, orcs, goblins, trolls, dwarves, Vikings, mermaids, and mermen—in Csaba Teszárek’s one-man performance.

Above it hung a sign,

written clearly there in felt-tip pen:

“IMPORTANT! FORBIDDEN! BEWARE! DANGER!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TOUCH IT!”

Little Eino pondered,

not much inclined to heed good advice,

the curious little rascal,

and asked himself gravely,

asking with curiosity:

“What happens if I touch it?”
