Launch of the book *Three Hundred Artists of Hungarian Photography*

2026-09-08T14:30:00.000Z

On 8 September, as part of the 1st and 2nd Photographers’ Professional Days, the launch of the monumental album *Three Hundred Creators of Hungarian Photographic Art* will take place. The publication has been produced jointly by the MMA Institute for Art Theory and Methodology and MMA Publishing, and sets out to provide a broader overview than ever before of the nearly two-hundred-year history of Hungarian photographic art.

The 664-page volume presents the past and present of Hungarian photographic art through the work of 300 artists, some 600 photographs and numerous interpretative and contextualising essays. What makes this publication unique is that it does not approach Hungarian photography as a traditional, chronological history of the medium: it examines the careers and major works of the artists in chapters organised, amongst other things, according to their fields of specialisation, the techniques employed, and aspects of their creative and artistic approach.
