It all begins when Llewelyn Moss finds a truck guarded by a group of corpses. Inside the truck lies a large quantity of heroin and two million dollars. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a catastrophic wave of violence that even the law—represented by the aging, disillusioned Sheriff Bell—is unable to contain. As Moss tries to escape his pursuers—but above all a mysterious figure who decides the fate of human lives by flipping a coin—the film transcends the framework of a crime thriller and begins to explore themes that are, on the one hand, as ancient as the Bible itself, and on the other, as brutally fresh as this morning’s news.
