Behind the scenes at the Ludwig Museum, with extras

Our popular ‘Behind the Scenes’ programme awaits visitors this time with new stops and surprises. We’ll be opening the doors to areas that are essential to the museum’s day-to-day running but are usually closed to the general public.
Our conservators will show you where and how they work; we’ll take a peek into the museum’s storerooms; and we’ll get a closer look at some special artefacts. What does a work of art need protection from? What happens to it when it’s not on display? How is it transported safely from the storeroom to the exhibition space?
As a new feature of the programme, the museum’s security expert will also share some behind-the-scenes secrets with visitors. We will then follow the route taken by the artworks: we’ll take the giant lift to the permanent exhibition, where the visit concludes with a guided tour.

The Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Müpa, is the first museum in Hungary to exclusively collect contemporary art. In addition to a permanent exhibition of the collection donated by the Ludwigs and a number of temporary exhibitions, the museum aims to raise awareness of the works and their creators through special publications and a variety of art education and art education programmes.
