Emese Benczúr’s latest site-specific installation, which spans the spaces of the Textile Factory, is titled *Movement Space*. In the performing arts, this term refers to the totality of a dancer’s or actor’s physical, spatial, and expressive possibilities—the physical area they can move within on stage. It encompasses the spatial forms and directions the body can describe, as well as the range of dynamics within which the artist can express themselves.

In a broader sense, “scope of action” refers to the totality of an individual’s possibilities for action, freedom of choice, and the available moral and material frameworks. It denotes the space within which a given person can achieve their goals without encountering limitations.
In Hungarian society, particularly in cultural policy, this scope of action has narrowed in recent years, while the stakes for art and critical thinking have grown ever higher. To what extent can the system in which we live actually be changed? The work simultaneously evokes experiences from the recent past and conveys a belief in the possibility of change: it is both a memento and a symbol of hope.
