Progressive Metal at Its Best – SOEN Concert on the A38 Ship
SOEN takes the stage with raw emotional power and musical precision, blending progressive metal and post-rock atmospheres into their unique sound with deep, resonant melodies. The Swedish band returns to us this year with their album *Reliance* to make waves at the A38 Ship on August 27.
Since the release of their boundary-pushing debut album, *Cognitive* (2012), former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and vocalist Joel Ekelöf have created one of modern metal’s most compelling projects with SOEN. The band has released seven studio albums to date,
and their 2023 album *Memorial* won the Album of the Year award on Metal Hammer Germany’s list, further cementing the band’s place at the forefront of the genre. SOEN’s live shows are at once heavy and spine-chilling, technically masterful, yet deeply human.
The band released their latest full-length album, *Reliance*, this past January, which serves as a refined follow-up to their previous work. SOEN has already proven itself in Hungary on multiple occasions, but if anyone still needs an introduction to them, fans of Architects, Gojira, Disturbed, Tool, Opeth, and Katatonia should definitely check them out. Expect sweeping dynamics, raw emotions, and true musical catharsis on August 27 at the A38 Ship.
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
