Dutch Focus | Futuro Ancestrale: Elsewhen (IT/NL/CY/US)

Futuro Ancestrale is an experimental ensemble led by Giuseppe Doronzo, an Italian-born, Amsterdam-based multi-instrumentalist and composer. The band was born out of the idea of blending contemporary improvisation with non-Western musical traditions. On their second album, *Elsewhen*, ancient instruments borrowed from traditional Chinese, Albanian and Chadian music play a central role alongside electronic elements. By inviting diverse sounds and cultures into a single musical space, Doronzo and his colleagues initiate a lively dialogue that evolves into a celebration. The musical material unfolds in the spirit of collective composition in the moment, opening up space for spontaneous creation and a tribute to the present.
