Ludwig Lounge – BLACK MIRROR: THE LONG SHADOW OF THE FUTURE
On this occasion, the Ludwig Lounge is linked to the exhibition *Black Mirror: The Long Shadow of the Future*. The afternoon’s programme explores the exhibition’s themes from various perspectives: how can we understand our present through the visual art visions of the recent past; how can the concept of dystopia offer a glimpse into the future; and to what extent does technology shape our present and our vision of the future? How do these thought experiments alter our environment, our social relationships and the way we think about ourselves?
The afternoon begins with a subjective guided tour by the writer and journalist Imre Para-Kovács. This will be followed by a discussion led by Dávid Zubreczki with the exhibition’s two artists, Marcell Esterházy and Antal Lakner. The evening will conclude with a DJ set by Lőrinc Borsos.

17:00 | A subjective guided tour of the exhibition by Imre Para-Kovács
What does a writer and presenter – who has been observing and commenting on social and cultural phenomena for decades – see in the world of *Black Mirror*?
Imre Para-Kovács guides visitors through the exhibition from his own perspective, using the artworks as a starting point to discuss the present and the future, technology, society and everything that happens in between. Imre Para-Kovács is a writer, journalist, radio presenter and editor. In his writing and public appearances, he reflects on contemporary social and cultural phenomena from a characteristically ironic and critical perspective.
18:00 | Visions of the Future – A conversation between Dávid Zubreczki and visual artists Antal Lakner and Marcell Esterházy
The built environment is a direct reflection of social structures: idealised visions of how we should live together can, over the decades, turn on their head and become structures that oppress our daily lives. The memory and layered history of urban spaces permeate our present, but what future did we envisage a few decades ago, and what future do we find ourselves in today? How do creative interventions within the urban fabric shape urban contexts?
Visual artist Marcell Esterházy typically works with family and found archival material. Since 2005, he has been exploring the private history of the Esterházy family, many events of which form part of both Hungarian and universal history. In his intermedia works, particular importance is attached to references to elements of the private archive and to related public documents, newspaper clippings and objects, as well as to quotation and appropriation as recurring creative devices. He graduated from the Intermedia Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2003, and in 2004 completed a Master’s degree at the Marseille School of Fine Arts (ESBAM).
Antal Lakner is a Munkácsy Prize and Perika Prize-winning artist, founder of the Téreltérítés Working Group, and associate professor at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Operating on the borderline between reality and fiction, through his conceptual works and projects, he partly integrates the visual arts into the everyday environment, whilst partly questioning traditional notions of artworks and the rituals of reception by transforming institutional settings.
Dávid Zubreczki is an architectural writer and one of Hungary’s best-known popularisers of architecture and the city. In his work, he connects issues relating to architecture, the urban environment, culture and everyday life in an accessible way.

Presented by Lőrinc Borsos’s performance division: Doomsayer II. (DJ set in two parts) Lőrinc Borsos is a fictional artist, a creative hybrid of János Borsos and Lilla Lőrinc, born in Budapest in 2008. Give him a Lamborghini! (Urus is out of the question!)

Ludwig Museum
The Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Müpa, is the first museum in Hungary to exclusively collect contemporary art. In addition to a permanent exhibition of the collection donated by the Ludwigs and a number of temporary exhibitions, the museum aims to raise awareness of the works and their creators through special publications and a variety of art education and art education programmes.
