The Black Noise Festival presents:

CHAT PILE

special guests: RAGANA

Oklahoma is littered with toxic waste left behind by lead and zinc mining, which locals simply call “chat.” This is where the city’s noise rock quartet got its name, and their music—much like these piles of waste—condenses the existential pain of the 21st century into a suffocating, grotesque form. Fear has replaced the American Dream, and Chat Pile’s music serves as a painful reminder of this shift.

Chat Pile, one of the most exciting sludge bands of the past few years, will be performing in Budapest for the first time. Their debut album, *God’s Country*, made it onto Rolling Stone and *SPIN* magazines’ lists of the best albums of 2022, and their follow-up 2024 album, *Cool World*, also drew widespread critical acclaim.

Ragana, a doom metal duo from Washington State, will also be joining Chat Pile. Their name means “witch” in Lithuanian, and their music is built on a suffocating atmosphere that is made truly and beautifully unsettling by lyrics steeped in political tension.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
