The technological innovations of recent years—and the astonishingly rapid development of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI)—undoubtedly have significant positive benefits. These technologies contribute to advances in numerous fields of science, while also making everyday users’ lives more convenient and their work more efficient.

However, the downsides of technological advancement—particularly those associated with devices and software designed for everyday use—are less obvious. Beyond the well-known harmful physiological effects of excessive screen time—such as vision loss, sleep disorders, spinal and hand deformities, and the resulting pain—it is important to discuss the social and psychological harms of information technology and the internet, as well as the environmental footprint of IT developments.
Contemporary visual artists respond quickly and sensitively to changes in the fabric of society, so the latest technological advances have rapidly appeared in their works of art, both as tools and as subjects. The Budapest Gallery’s international group exhibition, titled “Staying Logged In?”, presents works that examine the effects of IT innovations, online presence, and AI from various perspectives.

A Budapest Galéria a Főváros kortárs képzőművészeti kiállítótere. A galéria programja kéthavonta változó időszaki kiállításokból áll, amelyek érzékenyen reagálnak a város és a régió aktuális társadalmi kérdéseire. A kiállítási program egyaránt teret ad a fiatal, feltörekvő művészeknek első egyéni bemutatkozásukhoz és a középgenerációs alkotóknak praxisuk széleskörű megismertetéséhez, de a (főként) közép-európai fókuszú nemzetközi, tematikus csoportos tárlatokhoz is.
