The Palme d'Or-winning film of the 1997 Cannes Film Festival is a timeless teaching about life and its meaning. The protagonist of the philosophical work of deceptive simplicity is a broken and increasingly desperate man who is looking for someone who would bury him after his death, which he would carry out with his own hands. With his car, driving through the sand-covered hills of Iran, he addresses the people in his path. He occasionally hires a worker or soldier, but his wish scares everyone away. However, an older Turkish man accepts the assignment, but tells a story beforehand.
