Make Magyarország Great Again
Hungarian past, big hits and our shared obsessions: a musical compromise that we can finally laugh at together about what makes Hungarian Hungarian.
What makes Hungarian Hungarian? From his history, his hits, his peppers – or the fact that he can laugh, cry and be offended at the same time? Make Magyarország Great Again is a twenty-first century musical compromise in three parts: an attempt to bring the nation to a common denominator for at least one evening with the help of our stories, obsessions, grievances and hits.
LET'S UNITE OUR NATION! – Make Hungary Great Again
Twenty-first century musical compromise in three parts
The task, which is included in our government's program, seems simple: UNITE OUR NATION! But what are we to do with a nation that does not necessarily even agree on what it should finally agree on? Perhaps old memories, familiar sentences and those hits that everyone recognizes after a few sounds – and that everyone remembers another Hungary will help us.
Cabaret playfully evokes the past: eras that some remember with nostalgia, some with relief, and some with a remarkably selective memory. Between well-known songs, personalities, figures, mono - and dialogues and ironic stories, the Hungarian national self-portrait is slowly coming together: somewhat crumpled, at times over-decorated, sometimes contradictory to itself – but undoubtedly ours.
Schedule
Make Hungary Great Again is not a festive show or a political manifesto. A musical cabaret in which recalling the past is not a dusty history lesson, irony is not bitterness, and hits are not simple musical inserts. They all ask the same thing: This is how we were, this is how we became – but can we still laugh at ourselves together?
In any case, we are making an attempt to unite the nation. With songs, stories, irony and a good atmosphere, our national heroes such as János Háry, Tévémaci, Erős Pista, Rubik's cube and, of course, Uncle Lajos from the sixth, Hungary's most prolific Facebook commentator, will be here with us. Because if nothing else, maybe we can still agree that it is much better to laugh together for one evening than to be offended individually.
LET'S UNITE OUR NATION! At least until the end of the cabaret...
Come and have fun!
🌍 Foreign friends are also worth bringing — they may laugh at us and with us even more than we do!
„Eye-catching costumes, catchy melodies that penetrate deep into our souls. Stories about us, for us, which will all be familiar. As the holidays approach, this evening is also suitable for preparing in advance for the expected tensions and traps, and for learning to consciously avoid and manage them. After all, we are talking about recurring conflicts every year, so why and shouldn't they be abandoned this year?”
