Sopron’s new festival, which launched in 2023, has filled the entire city with a festive atmosphere and been a huge success in recent years. Until now, the festival’s dates have been aligned with Pentecost, the “movable feast.” However, in collaboration with the city leadership, we have now decided that the event will move to the summer starting next year.
“SopronFest will kick off on July 2, 2026, but we’ll once again be preparing for the days leading up to it with warm-up events, exhibitions, podcasts, and culinary programs. Our goal remains to work with our partners, hospitality providers, and service providers in Sopron to create a high-quality program lineup that appeals to both locals and the wider region, while showcasing the city’s well-known and hidden treasures to visiting tourists. At the same time, “organizing a ‘sustainable-scale,’ human-scale festival is our long-term goal,” said Norbert Lobenwein, one of the founders of SopronFest.
This year’s SopronFest was a success beyond expectations: with dozens of exhibitions, a culinary program, podcasts, concerts, and tens of thousands of visitors.
We look forward to welcoming festival-goers to Sopron from July 2–4, 2026.
