Mozart’s multifaceted, expressive, wittily ironic, yet always empathetic music brings to life this tale of human emotions, desires, dreams, and betrayals—a whirlwind of secretly sent letters, disguises, misunderstandings, and revelations. Judit Galgóczy’s production focuses on the dynamism and vibrant interweaving of the game of “everyone appears to be someone other than who they are.” Everything on stage is alive, in motion, pulsating—and all the while, the music flows.

The Hungarian State Opera House is the only theatre in Hungary with a large company, specialising in operas and ballets. The building is one of Budapest's most important 19th century monuments. It was built in neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of Miklós Ybl. The richly decorated interior was designed by renowned Hungarian artists, including Mór Than, Károly Lotz and Bertalan Székely.
