DUGIG Live sessions 04. // HELKA
Helga “Helka” Debreczeni-Kis is a musician, zither player, singer, and teacher. Her story began with a zither she found at her grandfather’s house.
Her music reinterprets the authentic Hungarian folk music tradition in an innovative way: using an electric zither, a looper, and effects pedals, she both honors tradition and shapes it into a new, personal musical language.

Schedule
In 2017, she was a finalist on the TV show *Fölszállott a páva*, and in 2022, she earned her degree in music education from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. She has performed in numerous countries, from Ireland through Kazakhstan and Japan, all the way to Australia. She has also performed at Hungary’s leading festivals, including Sziget, the Valley of the Arts, and the Campus Festival.
The zither may be familiar, but its sound is anything but. At her concert, this well-known instrument reveals a more unusual side of itself.
Dugig—part of the Dugattyús series of recurring live music concerts, where new performers not yet seen here take the stage.
The concert is free; we look forward to seeing you there!
