Valami Lesz

Singer/guitarist Ryan Lane grew up in a small pinewood mountain town in Arizona. Following his first year at university, he spent a chance three weeks in Hungary. The country stole his fate for keeps. Immediately throwing himself into the language, literature and history of the place, he encountered numerous juxtapositions with his home country, illuminating both places more clearly.

As he began communicating his discoveries bi-lingually through a roster of mediums—podcasting, literary translation, essays—the experiential dimension of music compelled him to form Valami Lesz with bassist and vocalist Szilárd Ádámosi-Sipos, later joined by drummer Gergő Mátó and guitarist Bálint Katona, all who hail from different parts of Hungary: Százhalombatta, Kiskunhalas, Budapest.

Together, they began crafting a distinctive musical world of meditative, syncopated, and lullaby-esque songs. With their vintage sonic palette they continue to explore the parallax of Hungarian and American culture through themes of coming-to-grips with our personal and collective pasts, dealing with heartaches in our present, and imagining expansive potentials for our future.
