Edda Művek

Edda Művek is a Hungarian rock band from Miskolc, which has been awarded the Fonogram lifetime achievement award. Its predecessor was founded in 1973, still under the name Griff, and from 1974 it continued under the name Edda. Initially founded by students, the hobby band became a professional ensemble with the help of Attila Pataky, who became the frontman, and later took the name Edda Művek. The word "művek" in the band's name symbolises the fact that the band started its career in Miskolc, a typical industrial town in northeastern Hungary - the "steel town". By the end of 1983, the band broke up, and instead started again with new musicians under Pataky, but now from Budapest.
