Maneuver Maneuver
Maneuver Maneuver was founded in 2017 by Tamás Szabó "Tonyo" Szabó (The Moog, Dope Calypso) and Máté Szilágyi (Dorothy's Legs). The duo, who play synthpop mixed with dark moods, released their first five EPs and a music video for their song "Locked Out" in February 2018. At the end of 2019, they released their second video for "Sorry", alongside another new track "Time". In 2022, they came out with two more songs and a video for their song "Hold On", shot by Péter Varsics.
In terms of music, Maneuver Maneuver is a blend of today's alternative and indie artists, the darker synth-based music of the 80s and 90s and the pop music that is usually a hit. Perhaps the duo's style can be seen as the love child of New Order, 2 Unlimited, Crystal Castles, Gary Numan and Late of The Pier, but it consciously adds back those influences in a contemporary form.
The distinctive visual world can be best understood as a mixture of Eastern European sensibilities, 80s crime thrillers and spy/sci-fi films, with a touch of David Lynch influence. Maneuver Maneuver has been covered by several Hungarian and some foreign music sites. The duo has been performing live since April 2018 and has already appeared at the Kolorádó Festival, Fekete Zaj, Művészetek Völgye, and has given numerous concerts at Toldi, Corvintető, the former Kuplung, Mika Tivadar Mulato, Analog Music Hall and many other clubs in Budapest and the countryside.
