Our play, Chameleon Girl, is a monodrama of real and fictional stories, in which the heroine reveals her most diverse and enduring moments through a tradition of personal storytelling. The recollections touch on themes such as minority identity, the expectations of the majority society and the need to cling to one's own values, the challenges of stereotypes, and the challenges of growing up and self-actualisation.
The play tells the story of the personal development of a vibrant Roma girl and sheds new light on the members of her diverse and conscious generation.
You have your whole life ahead of you, with all its challenges, and you have to play on a difficult playing field: you are a Roma woman.
In the third edition of the Back Talk, in connection with Women's Day, we explore the values and choices that can shape the life of a Roma woman. How different can women's life paths be and how can their goals of further education, career development or even having children and starting a family be decisive? During the event, Lucia Lakatos will be in conversation with Emilia Boda-Novy, the actress who plays the role of Chameleon Girl, Éva Galyas, a theology student, poet and short story writer who has worked for Roma Magazine and Radio C, and Ramóna Farkas, a young actress.

Independent Theater Hungary has been operating since 2007. Our aim is to start a conversation about social issues that touch all of us, this way drawing attention to personal responsibility: what we, as individuals can do to improve the situation.
It doesn’t matter where you come from, but it is important for us what you think of the world and what you do for it. We would like to achieve that the young people would be able to live together regardless of from their origin and would do a lot together so that we can live in a more hospitable country. Through our artistic and educational programmes, we work for it.
