And near the less affluent towns, time seems to stand still at these long-distance bus stops. They lurk on the roadside like a forgotten coat waiting for its owner to return to collect it, but he has long forgotten he ever owned such a garment. No one cares about them, only erosion takes its artistic toll on them, sometimes turning them into more minimalist "works of art" than minimalist.
I am attracted by these "artefacts", which can be seen as relics of a bygone age, an age in which they played a much greater role than people's journeys. They still mark the beginning and the end of a journey for many people, and increasingly they have been replaced by more modern versions.
For me, it was the old, much-loved, characterful pieces that were interesting. So much so that I feel they deserve a 'portrait' series.
