The first in Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colours trilogy, Blue. For each colour, the director has chosen one of the triple slogans of the Great French Revolution - liberty, equality, fraternity.
Blue is about a young woman who loses her child and her husband, a famous composer, in a car accident. She loses everything that ties her to life. She loses the artist who was working on the Anthem of a United Europe, whose death is like the death of music itself and the end of the fraternal union of mankind. The burden of the continuation is left to her, and she escapes from her grief into the freedom of solitude and unlovingness.
