Patrick McMurphy is convicted of minor and major pranks. However, because of his antisocial behaviour, he has to serve his sentence not in prison, but in a closed ward where most of the inmates live in their own private world.

McMurphy tries to breathe life into the dull daily life of the ward, trying to shake the patients out of their apathy and make them realise that even in this state they must still insist on their basic human rights. The nurses, however, do not take kindly to the rebellion and use every means at their disposal to break McMurphy.

This sensational film adaptation of Ken Kesey's great novel is 45 years old and won the Academy Award in five major categories (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay) the year it was released!
