1944. In the pub the regulars (the watchmaker, the book agent, the carpenter, the photographer and the barman) talk about everyday things. How to make a veal brisket, who they know, and whether, if they had the chance to rise from the dead, they would choose the fate of the rich tyrant or the unfortunate but honest slave. Little do they know that the next day, in the torture chambers of the Arrow Cross, they will have to answer this theoretical question in practice, by their actions.
