Samsara is the work of Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson, the award-winning creators of Faces of the Worlds: Baraka and Chronos. Their film is an entirely new visual and musical experience; an artistic creation, outstandingly unique on the theatrical circuit.
The Sanskrit word samsara is a deeper understanding of the changing phenomena in the eternal cycle of life. This is the starting point for the film: Fricke and Magidson explore the elusive yet functioning point of interconnection that, according to Eastern religions, spans our lives and rebirths.
The crew spent 5 years filming in 24 countries on 5 continents. The amazing footage was captured on 70mm film, in fact it is the basis for the stunning visual experience of sacred lands, disaster zones, industrial complexes and natural wonders. Like Baraka, The Face of the Worlds is a documentary without narration or descriptive text, experienced entirely by the recipient (the viewer) and without any influences. Its stimulating power is immense: breathtaking images and transcendent music come together as a whole, combining a bygone world with the present.
Samsara is a voyage of discovery, a spiritual journey: it soars from painful depths to wonders, illuminating the connections between humanity and nature...
