The puppet speaks. Exhibition of the life work of Anna Margit (1913-1991)
The Hungarian National Gallery presents the oeuvre of Margaret Anna, one of the outstanding figures of 20th century Hungarian painting. The large-scale exhibition of two hundred and twenty works of art - paintings and prints - gives a more complete picture than ever before of the artist, who lived through the most difficult periods of the 20th century. The Bartók Spring exhibition is the artist's first solo show.

Anna Margit was one of the founding members and prominent representatives of the European School of Art, a group of artists active between 1945 and 1948. It is difficult to classify her works as belonging to any one artistic movement; a significant part of her oeuvre can be characterised mainly along the lines of surrealism and expressive vision.
Hungarian National Gallery
The Hungarian National Gallery is the largest public collection documenting and presenting fine art in Hungary. The permanent exhibitions of the museum, located in the Buda Castle Palace complex, showcase the most important works of Hungarian art, including masterpieces by Master MS, Pál Szinyei Merse, Mihály Munkácsy, József Rippl-Rónai and Dóra Maurer.
