Hungarian art between the millennium and the Second World War
A permanent exhibition of 20th-century Hungarian art from the turn of the century to the end of the Second World War is on display in the museum's central second-floor space. The exhibition, which covers art from 1896 to 1945, features nearly 150 paintings, 30 sculptures and 200 medals.
Schedule
From March 2024, the 20th century permanent exhibition will be renewed in both content and presentation, focusing on the most outstanding artists and groups of artists from the period 1890-1930. The exhibition will feature a slightly different stylistic emphasis, new thematic units and new preferences for the oeuvre.
Hungarian National Gallery
The Hungarian National Gallery is the largest public collection documenting and presenting fine art in Hungary. The permanent exhibitions of the museum, located in the Buda Castle Palace complex, showcase the most important works of Hungarian art, including masterpieces by Master MS, Pál Szinyei Merse, Mihály Munkácsy, József Rippl-Rónai and Dóra Maurer.
