"I can't remember the first time exactly. For a long time I didn't suspect anything, I knew him from a long time ago, he came to see us, I didn't think anything bad."

Since when and why does the prosecutor in her thirties drink coffee without sugar? The poignant monologue she gave a few minutes after her horrific crime reveals. She talks about the journey that led her to her actions: her lifelong childhood abuse, starting at the age of thirteen, the inability to cope, the insecurity that followed and the subsequent series of failures - but also about her first love and her family of odd characters.

Egressy's monologue is a confession. I am sitting on a chair and I am going to tell you something. About myself. Something that has been weighing on me and defining my life for a long time. Because it's a trauma. All of this without tools, simply, with humour, self-deprecation, without self-pity.

Location

Nyitott Műhely

The Open Workshop is a fine place, a place where many different kinds of people can feel at home, which is to say that there is something that is rare and difficult to create, the spirit of the place. This spirit is very sympathetic to me, because it means both that there are shows that interest me and that the occasional stew is okay. And that I'm likely to meet people there who I'm happy to meet, and it's not even out of the question that they're me. Such public (open) spaces are rare in Budapest.
