Andrei Tarkovsky's masterpiece of science fiction, Stalker, has become as much of an enduring classic in the decades since its birth as Solaris, made seven years earlier. Winner of the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival, the powerful symbolism of this film has been replaced by a distant space, this time on Earth and its mysterious, life-defying place, the Zone. Only Stalker knows the way, full of traps and obstacles, and with his help, a writer and a professor hope to reach the room where all wishes come true - but they both want it for different reasons. All along their journey, the question hangs over them: what is it they really want?

Location

Bem Cinema

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
