Vultures wake
In the story of the One Percent Indian, three couples (Rajmund and his wife Chibi, Árpi and his girlfriend Niki, Andris and his wife Zsuzsa) meet in an apartment where the men have gathered for the funeral of a mutual friend from their youth. Andris has graduated from university and has a teaching job in Mexico, Árpi is living a lower-middle class life, and Rajmund is completely broke, selling his blood plasma to pay the rent. The girls have been trapped in this society, where they tolerate the men's remarks and musings for a while, but after a while they all get fed up with each other.

The One Percent Indian is the final part of the trilogy of films about the relationship between the Ernellas at the Wolfs' and the Calman Day couple. All three stories feature middle-aged couples struggling with the most ordinary but seemingly insurmountable problems. This inertia causes irritability, despair and a crisis in relationships in general. In the case of the Ernellas and the Farkas, relationship difficulties are caused by arguments over child-rearing; in the case of the Kalman family, the problems stem from tensions arising from a lack of intimacy and sexuality. In One Percent Indian, the focus is on identity, inherited behaviours, male chauvinism, feminism and modern gender roles. In this film, men are lost, wandering in the male role, and women are equally lost in their own femininity. Men and women, for lack of a better word, point fingers at each other, each blaming the other. In this society, each character hopes for a solution from the outside, and looks to the others for change and progress.
