It makes a difference who gets to ride the train at the wedding of Gizi the Stinky... who gets to ride behind who - especially from Nándi's point of view. Nándi's parents, Attila and Éva, come together at this event, after the train's successive carriages. It soon becomes clear that the main character of their life together is not their child, but the roller blind. At least for Eva, whose mother (Martti) is present... when she is present... and when she is not. She is not a shutter person, in fact. But why is a shutter so important? What can a shutter do? Well, a lot of things. When it's lowered, it covers you; when it's raised, it shows you what's outside... or inside.

A shutter is a funny and entertaining piece of work. The Shower is a shocking and thought-provoking piece. How is this paradox possible? András Maros tells the tragedy of a woman forced into a traditional role, while at the same time operating brilliant dialogues with a tight rhythm and a sparkling beat. Maros uses an astonishing language, his humour is reminiscent of the greats - Péter Esterházy, Lajos Nagy Parti - yet it is as unique as any of them. Maros makes the piece at once homely, 'flavoured with immediacy', believable and at the same time elemental. While he makes us laugh with elemental force, the structure remains dramatic, gritty and poignant, and the end of the piece is a real catharsis...
