Exhibition opening: Tünde Fülöp 'Histology'

„…My tool is the thread, which connects me to art, people, and society. The layering and rhythmic construction of weaving writes our story. It is a kind of carrier that encapsulates the imprint of humanity, and I add my own perspective to it.” – says contemporary textile artist Tünde Fülöp.

Fabric is a fundamental element of the textile industry. But how exactly do those connections form, those bonding points that define their unique pattern? All weaving processes commence at an intersection, termed a binding point. The warp threads, running horizontally, intersect perpendicularly with the vertically placed weft threads. A point where threads cross, deciding the colors and patterns based on which thread goes over or under.

Tünde Fülöp combines traditional weaving techniques with contemporary materials and tools in her clean, minimalist works. By merging the characteristics of the past and present, tradition and innovation, it visualizes the potential inherent in weaving using the methods of geometry and abstraction. The exhibition features the artist's latest works, and objects created using videotape and felt. These materials function as personal tools for expression, storytelling, and preserving memories, mirroring both individual and collective recollections.

The exhibition offers visitors a glimpse into the technology and fundamentals of weaving. We can examine the fundamental weaves we interact with every day, but it is challenging to understand the complexities of their structure.

The exhibition is open from October 17 to November 14.
