BANDS THROUGH THE LENS
The identity-forming and community-organising role of collective experiences under the lens.
In his first solo photography exhibition, Lajos Somogyi has selected his favourite subjects, music, locations and techniques from the last 9 years, with the aim of presenting underground subcultures. Here, photography is not just an internal journey or a means of documentation, but a kind of media reflection that captures and frames the collective experience of the concerts.

The exhibited images reflect the dynamic aesthetics of event photography: the vibrant energy of the concerts, the kaleidoscope of audience emotions and the gestures of the performers, frozen in a moment, are meant to capture the timeless essence of subcultural existence. In turn, the disbanded and dismantled places and disbanded bands that appear in the images transform this selection into a cordial document, serving as a crutch for reliving moments gone by.
The exhibition is a tribute to the underground scene.

Dürer Kert, which moved from the City Park to the vicinity of Kopaszi Dam, is one of the hangouts of Budapest's surviving peripheral subcultures, but it's also worth visiting if you just want a perfect garden spot. That is, starting in spring. Until then, let's keep rockin'! And after that, too.
