!!! You will not believe what is happening on the Trafo stage!

Attention-grabbing titles like this are taking control of the internet, while directing us to other sites via algorithms to keep us chained to the online space for as long as possible with emotion, emotion, irony or fear-mongering. Our attention is the oil of the 21st century, competing not only with cosmetic advertisements and holiday photos of our friends, but also with political campaigns and social messages on the same level. Who can be the most effective, the most emotional or the most shocking - it depends on what we perceive as reality

Schedule

Distracting Attention is a documentary theatre performance about the hidden mechanisms of online space, the possibilities of speaking out and the commodification of our attention. Civil participants share their personal stories and experiences. All this through the medium of theatre, where the audience has the luxury of focusing on one thing in common, the events of an empty stage.

Based on Bertolt Brecht's tandem play Die Maßnahme, the stories of a journalist, a tick-tocker, an instablogger, a podcaster, an actor and an activist reflect on the work of contemporary agitators fighting for a more just society in an online space that was once about freedom and access to knowledge, but has now become a playground for big business. How can a cause be represented and made visible in these circumstances? How does global capitalism shape public discourse in a Central and Eastern European autocracy? Where are the gaps in the system? In the spirit of Brecht, we attempt to remind the audience of a simple truth: that reality can be changed. Especially in the age of the internet.
