Sakura feast

For many years, the ELTE Botanic Garden has been hosting the annual

Sakura festival, which always coincides with the Japanese

cherry tree blossoming in April, the traditional Japanese holiday

Ohanami. This is the time when the Japanese cherry trees blossom

in the Artist's Garden, visitors are invited to visit the Japanese

picnic on a blanket in the garden,

and admire the Sakura trees in bloom.

The weekend's activities will showcase the many special and unique aspects of Japanese culture

interesting forms. This year there will also be Japanese language lessons, Japanese

music, Japanese martial arts and weapons demonstrations, Go instruction and concerts,

a manga show and a meeting of this subculture. The MOME students will present Japanese

inspired ceramics and there will also be an ikebana performance and workshop.

The best entries of the haiku competition will also be read in the garden.
