THE TRAM OF DESIRE

Dance drama in two acts

May
31

Schedule

The Streetcar of Desire is the first full-length choreography by Marianna Venekei. A project she and László Dés have been cherishing for years. The composers will tell the story of the piece in its atmosphere, music and visuals, using the tools of modern ballet, leaving the original era and setting of Tennessee Williams' work in New Orleans in the 1940s. In both music and dance motifs, the diversity and the unique characterisation of the characters drive the performance. The story of Blanche DuBois's downfall is a never-ending drama of familial love, unrequited love, acceptance and the power of physicality.
