Schedule
Beatrix Makkai-Kovács's latest paintings and previously unseen small-scale collages are included in her solo exhibition at Hybridart Space, titled Something Eternal, from the poem by Lőrinc Szabó. The artist was also interested in the relationship between landscape and abstract art during her university years, and in this exhibition, in addition to her usual paintings, which intuitively assemble layers, the artist's constructive image-making practice is also represented through her collages, which represent concreteness rather than the lyricism of the panel paintings.
The interior landscapes that are brought to life in the paintings, the compositions made up of quick gestures, capture the artist's current moods, but their vibrations also reach us, the recipients, and we feel ourselves slowly calming down, entering a contemplative state where we can pay more intense attention to our own feelings and perceptions. The paintings, with their atmospheric lightness, exude calm and peace, evoking associations of still natural landscapes or of calm and unmoved urban worlds. Or, as Délia Vékony says: "the works are glimpses into a reality of infinite depth and complexity".
