Part 3 of the Mining District trilogy.

Schedule

The setting: a Székely village, somewhere in a mining district. This time the story revolves around the much-mentioned parish priest and his strange mistress. The outsider hero this time is Martin, whom the priest refers to as his adopted son, who sculpts sculptures, writes poetry and dreams of running away and trying his luck elsewhere...

"What made this trilogy so significant? It's a tradition, but it's also an immediate tradition-making, which is very rare. It's bold, outspoken, it delves into traumatic problems. Thus it confronts the increasingly virulent far right, the Romanian-Hungarian relationship, the churches. It starts from reality and from reality it rises into a poetic world."

(Zsuzsa Radnóti, dramatrug, on Csaba Székely's drama book, Open Forum 2013)

Andrea Bozó, Best Supporting Actress, Theatre Critics' Prize, 2014.

The first part of the trilogy, Bányavirág (Mine Blossom), can be seen at the Pinceszínház, the second part, Bányavakság (Mine Blindness), also at the Szkéné Theatre.
