Karinthy's work is one of the best disease memoirs of all time, and a unique work of world literature. A heartbreaking investigation into the "great diagnosis". From health to illness - every man's nightmare and the almost inevitable great change of the second half of his life. The work is still of great literary and human value today, as Karinthy turns to the mysteries of the world with an elemental curiosity. He explores himself, the characteristics of medicine and science, obsessively yet with a certain self-irony. He believes in the power of science, in its redemptive power that transcends human lives. Karinthy's rationalist style, his perpetual self-reflection and his sensitivity to parody make his work deeply relatable and entertaining. Humour is an elemental part of life for Karinthy, and it is from this perspective that he analyses everything.
The company's production, performed by Péter Scherer, will hopefully create a performance faithful to Karinthy in every respect, which, in addition to expressing the universal feeling of vulnerability and loneliness, will also express the possibility of moving on and hope for the future.
In addition to the personality of the acting, the production aims to build on strong musical influences, with the help of the actor Róbert Marton, who has an extraordinary musicality. The precise structuring of the musical inserts and atmosphere, and the creation of a balance between prose and song inserts, is the first and one of the most important stages of the creators' work.
In addition to the male protagonist narrating the story, the performance also aims to portray the female care that is constantly present in the vulnerable situation of life in a plastic form. In the role of Aranka Böhm, the nurse and wife, and in other "angelic" roles, the creative team is completed by Nóra Parti, an actress with a great talent for both singing and prose.
The production is planned to be a delight for adults and younger audiences alike.
