THE CALL OF DUTY
After the presentation of young, emerging women artists, the one-year am projects exhibition programme continues with the exhibition THE CALL OF DUTY by Emese Benczúr. In Benczúr's art, texts and short slogans play a prominent role, creating a special relationship with her unique technique and use of materials, revealing the complexity of her creations.

Schedule
THE CALL OF DUTY focuses on invisible domestic work and the notion of duty, reflecting on the artist's thesis work, I am fulfilling my duty (1995), where he embroidered the title phrase on a curtain strap in repetitive fashion over a whole semester. While the focus of Benczúr's early works was on mantra-like repetitive inscriptions in the first person singular, often functioning as titles, this has now changed and he has recently been implementing meditative repetition by returning to the inscriptions and concepts repeatedly and revisiting the phrases and action sequences that create the works.
In her latest exhibition, her use of repetitive texts can be interpreted as a symbol of the never-ending chore. Her choice of materials is always carefully considered; sometimes the text comes first, sometimes the material inspires the work, but the exhibition site also influences the final result.
am projects
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, Ani Molnár Gallery reached a new professional milestone in 2024, when it added a second space with a separate programme, am projects. Plans for the first year focus on young, local women artists, so the opening is metaphorical, in that it is not only a new venue, but also a new perspective in the life of the gallery. The fresh art platform aims to provide exposure and market presence for outstanding artists who are not yet widely known. However, am projects, which is thinking in new perspectives, is not at all breaking away from the spirit of the Molnár Ani Gallery, not only because of its proximity - the two exhibition spaces are located 200 metres apart on Bródy Sándor Street - but also because it wants to continue the professional quality already established.
