Easter Festival in the Skanzen
If Easter, then Skanzen! Easter is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important of the festivals of the church year, and it is also associated with many folk customs and beliefs. In addition to its religious content, Easter is also a celebration of the coming of spring. This year, the focus is on the preparations and customs of the Easter holiday, which runs from Palm Sunday to Whit Sunday, in the narrower sense of the term, in the spirit of sustainability.
Spring, the beginning of the cycle of the seasons, is a time of renewal for nature. The magic of fertility was also the subject of a number of earlier magical acts performed on important days, according to popular belief, which, along with church customs, were considered important by our farming ancestors. The egg is thus a symbol of new life and of Jesus, and is also a prominent feature of Easter traditions, as our programmes show.
There are theatre, games, educational and craft activities. We also maintain the tradition of egg decorating. We use natural ingredients, onion peel, beeswax and buttermilk.
