One of the most renowned figures in science fiction, Polish-born Stanislaw Lem's most popular work of the same name was the basis for Andrei Tarkovsky's seriously questioning Solaris, the Grand Jury Prize-winning film at the 1972 Cannes Film Festival (which was later often compared to Stanley Kubrick's similar masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey.)
A space expedition sets off from Earth to solve a mystery that puzzles many: what is causing the succession of human deaths on a space station near the planet Solaris? Sent to investigate the bizarre case, Kris discovers that the ocean of knowledge surrounding the celestial body is creating the reality of all those who are remembered with guilt or remorse by the space station workers.
Having experienced it in their lives, those still alive are desperate to fight the mysterious force, but the outcome of the battle against the tangible mirage is in doubt...
