It was the Age of Aquarius. It was the age of freedom, dancing, song and LSD. But it was also the era of the Vietnam War. The time of needless soldiering and senseless, cruel death... A country boy gets his draft notice and goes to New York for the draft. Then he sees a beautiful girl on horseback, whom he might fall in love with if he had the slightest chance of meeting her again. His new friends have a different opinion. For hippies, nothing is impossible: their lives are governed by different laws, only laws of their own making. Thus begins the film that everyone remembers so fondly. The story of Berger, Claude, Sheila and the others is not just about an era and a generation: it has become an eternal classic. The flower era is over, but this film manages to convince its viewers again and again that there was something in it that will hopefully never go away.
